Have you ever considered that God is the initiator of all that we do?

Theologian and author, Eugene H. Peterson perhaps said it best when he said that God has always been the initiator and man the responder.

Recently I have learned that true prayer is initiated by God. If I am seeking God’s purpose, then I will be open to responding to Him, when He prompts me to pray.

The call to prayer is the Father’s invitation for us to visit with Him, to sit with Him for a while. It is the call and invitation of love from our Heavenly Father to come and enjoy fellowship with Him.

James 4:8 “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.”

God initiates…………

Isaiah 65:24 “Before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, yet will I hear.”

God initiates…………

He chose us; He pursued us; He tracked us down; He showered us with His love.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him may not perish, but will have everlasting life.”

God initiates…………

1 John 4:19 “We love, because He first loved us!”

God has always been the initiator! Our part is to simply trust Him and to respond!
