Last Sunday our Church family welcomed new members and farewelling Christine Dillon as she prepares to leave for Taiwan.

As I looked at the new members, I cannot help but wonder "how did you become a follower of Christ, who was your encourager?"  If each one would write their story for our weekly bulletin we could get to know them better.

I looked over at Christine and wondered how did she become a writer/novelist and who encouraged her?

At home I found a poetry book written by Christine, gifted and signed by her in 2004. In this book, is her early poetry works, which I daresay would be the beginning of ‘a writer in the making’.  In short, although Christine wrote her first poem in High School, she had no thoughts of writing any more poetry until at Bible College.  Whilst studying theology with Bruce Smith, who mentored and encouraged her and other classmates to  continue to write, Christine would write poems on scraps of paper, in class and at odd times.  Expressing her thoughts about her walk with her Lord, reflections on grief and joy etc.  Along the way, God has blessed  her with friends to guide and walk with her through her writing world,.  I am moved by her writing, it is as though  she is speaking to me.

An excerpt from this book, Christine writes ‘He who began a good work…will carry it on to completion’  Phil.1:6, this is indeed true where Christine is in her writing.

What is your story?  Who is your encourager?  Share with us.
